Iran’s Proposal to Annually Dedicate the BRICS Prize to National Poets

According to the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA), Yaser Ahmadvand, the Deputy for Cultural Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, who is visiting Russia to participate in the meeting of BRICS member countries’ culture ministers, proposed in his speech to dedicate the BRICS literary prize annually to the national poets of the member countries, citing the existing potential among them.

In this meeting, held in Kazan, Russia, with the participation of culture ministers and high-ranking cultural officials from Russia, China, South Africa, Brazil, Egypt, and Iran, he identified literature as one of the important pillars for developing cultural relations among BRICS members.

The Deputy for Cultural Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance also, pointing to the special place of poetry in the Iranian-Islamic civilization and the existence of great poets in BRICS member countries, proposed that the BRICS literary prize be annually dedicated to the national poets of the member countries. This proposal was welcomed by the members, and it was decided to be reviewed in expert meetings.

In another part of his speech, Ahmadvand welcomed the expansion of cultural cooperation among BRICS members in various fields such as the translation and publication of works, holding cultural and artistic weeks, and library collaborations.

The meeting of the culture ministers of the BRICS member countries was held in the city of Kazan, Russia.
