Kermanshahi Poet Nominated for International Pushcart Prize
According to the correspondent of Iran’s Book News Agency (IBNA) in Kermanshah, Mohsen Hosseinkhani, a poet from Kermanshah, has been nominated for the 2025 International Pushcart Prize by IHRAM Press literary magazine for his poem “The Homeless” published in the book “Only Death Lives” (Fifth Chapter Publishing, 2015). This award is considered one of the most important literary events for recognizing the best works published in independent American presses and magazines.
Hosseinkhani, an Iranian poet, recently received an official email from the magazine informing him that one of his poems has been shortlisted for the “Pushcart” prize. Explaining this selection, he said: “Last year, I sent a poem from my book ‘Only Death Lives’ to one of the magazines, and now that same work has been selected as one of the nominees for the ‘Pushcart’.”
The poet further noted, referring to the number of submitted works: “Among approximately 600 works, only six have reached the nomination stage, and fortunately, one of them was my poem, which is a great honor for me.”
Hosseinkhani also recalled: “The history of the award was also interesting and inspiring for me, and by examining its background, I realized that prominent figures like Raymond Carver had also been nominated for it.”
The final Pushcart nominees will be announced in winter.
