I invite the public and private individuals to participate in preparing Fani’s memorial book

Bahaeddin Khorramshahi, in an interview with the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA), expressed regret over the death of Kamran Fani, calling him a prominent and hardworking scholar. He noted: “Fani and I had many common teachers, of whom only one scholarly and literary couple, Mehdi Mohaghegh and Nooshafarin Ansari, remain. Mohaghegh taught us lasting lessons in literature, and Ansari taught us bibliography completely.”

Stating that he collaborated with Fani on three works, including the Encyclopedia of Shiism (Dayerat al-Ma’aref al-Tashayyu), Thematic Culture of the Quran (Farhang-e Mawzu’i Quran), and Daneshgostar Encyclopedia (Daneshnameh Daneshgostar), he explained: “We prepared the Encyclopedia of Shiism over approximately 40 years, from 1361 to 1401 (1982 to 2022). Kamran Fani, Seyyed Mehdi Haeri Qazvini, and I were among the authors of this encyclopedia, all originating from Qazvin. The other reference is Thematic Culture of the Quran in Arabic. This book is essentially an alphabetical index or thematic catalog of the Quran, organized alphabetically (abjadi). The third is the Daneshgostar Encyclopedia, prepared in collaboration with Ali Ramin, Kamran Fani, and Mohammad Ali Sadat, which has 18 volumes. Fani was responsible for the Iran and Islam sections of this encyclopedia, and I collaborated by writing articles for it.”

Khorramshahi emphasized: “To honor Kamran Fani’s efforts and keep his memory alive, we plan to prepare and publish a 500-page memorial book, and I invite everyone to send their notes and articles for inclusion in this work by early Bahman (January/February).”

He also mentioned Fani’s special skill in translation and said: “People like me, Saeed Hamidian, and Hassan Anousheh owe a debt to Fani’s guidance in the field of translation.”

This scholar and author also mentioned sweet memories of Fani during his commemorative ceremony and said: “Recently, a session was held to commemorate Fani, organized by Ali Dehbashi at the Dr. Afshar Endowments. That day, I was feeling down due to difficult life circumstances, but I went to the podium to share a sweet and humorous memory of Fani. I was so inspired that I recounted 10 memories.”
