Khorasan Welcomes Luminaries / Review of Naming Urban Places After Contemporary Poets
According to Khabaronline from Khorasan, Seyed Sadra Mirdamadi, on the sidelines of a meeting to discuss capacities for honoring contemporary poets and writers, stated: In this session, proposals were made regarding naming some streets, squares, and libraries after literary figures of Khorasan. The issue of reforming the name of Qudsi Square in Mashhad and installing a statue of this renowned poet, in cooperation with Mashhad Municipality, was also reviewed, so that more precise proposals can be sent to relevant authorities for decision-making.
He added: It was also suggested that poems by influential contemporary poets be displayed in frames and banners in public spaces of the city on the occasion of their birth or death anniversaries, so that people become more familiar with the literary heritage of Khorasan.
The head of the National Document and Library Center for the East of the country clarified: Another program is the compilation of a multi-volume memorial collection for five prominent Khorasan poets: Qudsi, Qahraman, Kamalpour, Sahebkar, and Baqerzadeh, to strengthen the region’s cultural and social capital.
Organizing the poets’ mausoleum adjacent to Ferdowsi’s tomb and special attention to figures like Emad Khorasani and Gholamhossein Yousefi in their upcoming centennial anniversaries were other key points emphasized by the head of the National Document and Library Center for the East of the country.
According to Mirdamadi, the meeting also emphasized the role and participation of governmental and private cultural institutions, media, and public groups in honoring Khorasan’s luminaries. It was decided that documents and images related to Master Qudsi be collected from his family and the IRIB archives and made available to the Document Center for greater utilization in future programs and commemorations.
He added: Officials from the General Directorate of Public Libraries have pledged cooperation to name one of the libraries on Shahnameh Boulevard, near Ferdowsi’s tomb, after Master Qudsi.
Mirdamadi announced: A commemoration night for Master Gholamreza Qudsi will also be held in Mashhad in the first decade of Dey (late December/early January) this year, with the presence of academic and literary figures and students of this prominent poet.
