Continuing Book Reading Sessions; Associations Should Get to Work

According to the correspondent of Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Semnan, Gholamreza Tarighi, on the sidelines of his trip to Semnan and during a meeting with public library managers of Semnan province, called for the creation and continuation of book-reading, cultural, and artistic sessions.

He stated that public libraries and cultural and artistic associations should step forward and lead this movement, adding: ‘We believe that activities in the field of literature and book-reading, and even voluntary public activities, should be held in public libraries.’

The Deputy Director of Poetry and Fictional Literature at Iran’s Book House continued: ‘This issue will not only help boost libraries but also restore the library’s position as a reference for cultural activities.’

Tarighi noted that good cultural, literary, and book-reading gatherings are currently being held in many public libraries across the country, stating: ‘It is necessary for this issue to become a movement.’

He added that when book-reading sessions in libraries become a consistent movement, their quality can also be enhanced. ‘In this case, the scope of individuals participating in these sessions will also expand,’ he said.

Tarighi emphasized that literary associations should organize these sessions in public libraries, saying: ‘The library is the basis for holding activities related to the field of literature.’
