Historical Notes; A Look at the History of Gilan, Anzali, and Malavan

The book ‘Historical Notes; A New Look at the History of Iran, Anzali, and Malavan’ is written by Amir Pourtahmasbi, and Harf-e Now Publications has released it in 266 pages.

After providing ‘A Brief History of Iran’, the author offers explanations on ‘The History of Iranian Football’, followed by ‘A Look at the History of Championship Sports in Anzali’ and ‘The History of Malavan Bandar Anzali Cultural and Sports Club’. He then delves into ‘The History of Anzali City’, ‘Anzali in Travelogues’, ‘Chronology of Anzali’s History’, ‘Natural Attractions and Historical Buildings of Anzali’, ‘Polish Refugees in Anzali’, ‘Notables and Celebrities’, ‘Anzali and the Issue of Title Distortion’, ‘Chronology of Russian Attacks on Anzali and Gilan’, ‘The History of Rasht City’, ‘Historical and Scenic Places of Rasht’, ‘Rasht in Travelogues of Tourists and Travelers’, ‘The History of Rasht Football’, and ‘The Roots of Gilanis’.

Pourtahmasbi has written to the reader: ‘Over twenty years, I have thoroughly searched about 800 related, and in some cases unrelated, travelogues and books in the hope of finding a point related to Anzali… In compiling the sections related to my hometown Anzali, however, another point was also in my mind. I think it is necessary for both the people of Anzali and especially the city managers to be aware of the history of this city and its great role in contemporary Iran’s transformations towards modernity… In this book, I have also specifically addressed the history of Malavan Bandar Anzali football team. In the field of Malavan’s history, after about a year of research, I was able to prepare the first documented history of Malavan Navy Anzali Club.’

The present book is a collection of my previous notes on history (a little on the history of Iran and Gilan and more on the history of my hometown Anzali) which has been compiled as concisely and briefly as possible for ease of study.
