A Documentary Narrative of the Life and Struggles of Martyr Mehdi Bakeri
According to the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA), the unveiling ceremony of the book “Come and See; A Narrative of the Life of Major General Martyr Mehdi Bakeri” is being held today, Tuesday, December 2 (11 Azar in Persian calendar), at the Center for Documents, Research, and Publication of Sacred Defense Knowledge and the Struggles of the IRGC, with the presence of the esteemed family of Martyr Bakeri, the author of the book, and a group of researchers, scholars, and veterans of the Sacred Defense.
Hassan Alaee Faal, Director of the Cultural and Social Studies Group of the Center for Documents and Research of Sacred Defense, at the unveiling ceremony of the biography book of Martyr Mehdi Bakeri titled “Come and See”, while paying tribute to the high status of martyrs, Sacred Defense veterans, and the respected family of Martyr Bakeri, elaborated on the position and importance of compiling works related to martyr commanders. He said: “One of the serious and repeated demands of the Supreme Leader in the field of Sacred Defense is the writing of biographies of martyr commanders. He has repeatedly advised and emphasized that these works must be carefully authored so that people, especially the younger generation, by studying them, become familiar with the true role models of the revolution.”
The Director of the Cultural and Social Studies Group of the Center for Documents, stating that the approach of the study group is not merely to narrate the personal lives of the martyrs, added: “In the Research, Cultural, and Social Studies Group, one of our fundamental topics is addressing the lives of prominent martyrs, but I must complete the phrase ‘life of a martyr’; because these types of works are actually the ‘life and times’ of these revered martyrs. The books authored by our colleagues do not merely express individual life, but rather explain the course of events, occurrences, and times in which the martyr lived.”
He clarified: “The present work is the result of years of meticulous research by Mohammad Sadegh Darvishi. This book, published this year, depicts the life and times of Martyr Mehdi Bakeri in three periods: before the revolution, events after the victory of the revolution, and during the Sacred Defense. By studying it, the reader becomes well acquainted with the revolutionary struggles and the events of the reconstruction era and the war.”
Alaee Faal, referring to his long history in the field of publishing and professional strictness in this path, noted: “With over 40 years of publishing activity in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, I confidently say this book is one of the influential works. We are very strict in evaluating works, but I bow in humility before the content and quality of this book, because the author has put in immense efforts to create this work.”
He explained the documentary feature of this research work, saying: “One of the distinguishing features of the said book is that the author has used dozens of authentic documents available at the document center and has created a comprehensive work by conducting numerous interviews with Martyr Bakeri’s comrades-in-arms in various cities. Although this process was time-consuming, it produced acceptable results.”
The Director of the Cultural and Social Studies Group of the Center for Documents, while appreciating the efforts of Mohammad Sadegh Darvishi as the author and Seyed Iman Nouri Najafi as the designer of the work, reminded: “I am confident that the younger generation, by studying this book, will not only become familiar with the true face and likeness of Martyr Bakeri but will also gain valuable information about the history of the revolution and the fateful events of the Sacred Defense.”
