Prohibition of Paper Printing of Theses
According to the reporter of Iran’s Book News Agency (IBNA), based on green management goals in universities and the emphasis of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology on achieving these goals, the issue of paper consumption saving was placed on the agenda of this ministry.
The text of the letter addressed to the heads of public and non-public universities and higher education institutions across the country is as follows:
In line with the measures and policies of the Ministry of Science in achieving the objectives of the green management program, saving paper consumption and reducing costs, and also considering the pioneering role of the country’s higher education system in optimizing behaviors and processes in society, it is necessary, in accordance with previous relevant directives, for all universities and higher education institutions to eliminate and prohibit the paper printing of theses/dissertations, scientific reports, course reports, and common educational assignments at all levels and fields.
It should be noted that the identification of exceptional cases (instances where electronic publication is not possible) will be the responsibility of the university.
According to IBNA; the goal of green management in universities is to enhance and systematically interact externally and internally, as well as to influence the surrounding environment, reduce costs and negative environmental impacts resulting from consumption, through the implementation of an environmental management system, changing consumption patterns, optimizing resource consumption, reducing waste, and ultimately improving the environment.
