Urmia Receives ‘Book-Loving City’ Plaque

According to a reporter from the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Urmia, Alireza Norouzi, Director General of Culture and Islamic Guidance of West Azerbaijan Province, presented the ‘Book-Loving City’ Plaque of Appreciation, on behalf of the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, to Rasoul Moghabeli, Head of the Political and Social Deputy of the West Azerbaijan Governorship and Governor of Urmia County.

This plaque was awarded to Urmia following its success in the 9th ‘Iran Book Capital’ festival and achieving the second rank nationally. This accomplishment places Urmia alongside Iran’s leading cities in promoting a culture of reading.

The reception of this plaque by the Head of the Political and Social Deputy of the West Azerbaijan Governorship reaffirms the province’s long-term managerial commitment to supporting cultural programs, strengthening library infrastructure, and developing book and reading-related activities. This success indicates that local cultural programs have achieved tangible results.

Furthermore, this success is the result of implementing innovative projects at the city level, including mobile book schemes and the active participation of public libraries and schools. This demonstrates that investing in culture has the potential to transform a city into a cultural hub, and Urmia is a successful example of this approach.
