Ibna Honored at Khorasan Razavi Book Week Ceremony

According to the reporter of Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Mashhad, IBNA was honored as the leading, active, and supportive media in reflecting and disseminating news in the field of books during the commemoration ceremony of Book Week and Book Reading in Mashhad. The event was held at Aftab Velayat Hotel in Mashhad with the presence of the Cultural, Social, and Pilgrimage Deputy Governor of Khorasan Razavi Province, the Head of the General Directorate of Public Libraries of Khorasan Razavi, and a group of managers, officials, and librarians of the province.

Hojjat al-Islam Ali Askari, the Cultural, Social, and Pilgrimage Deputy Governor of Khorasan Razavi Province, stated at the ceremony: “Books and research are the pillars of civilization building in Khorasan, and the role of librarians in this path is vital and effective.”

While appreciating the influential role of librarians, he said: “Noble librarians bear a heavy responsibility. Many of them play the role of a teacher. When a teacher starts with a book, their effectiveness will be multiplied. The arduous efforts of librarians are the main asset of libraries.”

The Cultural, Social, and Pilgrimage Deputy Governor of Khorasan Razavi Province emphasized the need to increase the per capita study rate in the country and added: “This goal will only be achieved with the cooperation of the people, cultural institutions, and librarians.”

Also, Seyed Ehsan Mostafizadeh, the head of IBNA’s representative office in Khorasan Razavi, briefly spoke at the ceremony, expressing gratitude for the attention given to the field of information dissemination and book media. He stated: “Focus on books and reading should not be limited to Book Week.”

He also pointed out the holding of three Book Week commemoration programs in Mashhad by various institutions and noted: “Consolidating programs and holding a grand event can have a greater impact on honoring and paying attention to books and librarians.”

Mostafizadeh, considered the absence of the Governor of Khorasan Razavi in any of the Book Week programs, which was due to work assignments outside the province, as another sign of the ‘oppression’ of books.
