Donation of Documents and Lithograph Books by an Urmian Benefactor
In an interview with IRNA’s correspondent in Urmia, Abbasali Mosahabtalab, referring to the donation of six documents and five lithograph books to the Documents, Manuscripts, and Printed Treasures Section of the Central Library of Urmia, stated that the purpose of this action is to promote the good tradition of endowment (Waqf) and reading, and to encourage public participation in this benevolent cultural work.
He said: The tradition of Waqf in Islam and Iranian culture has a special history and status, which must be preserved and taught and passed on to future generations through such actions.
The Urmian benefactor stated: The subject of these endowed documents is the culture and life of the people of Urmia. One of the lithograph books is the work of an Urmian author, and another lithograph book was published by an Urmian publisher, with their local origin adding significant folkloric value to the works.
According to IBNA; Abbasali Mosahabtalab, 92 years old, is still active in the field of books and reading and believes that the secret to having an active mind and thought in old age is reading books. Among precious resources, local and folklore works are prioritized for acquisition, collection, and provision of services to researchers.
The Documents, Manuscripts, and Printed Treasures Section of the Central Library, located on the negative one floor of this library, holds more than 1,340 lithograph, lead-print, manuscript, and historical documents.
