Artificial Intelligence; Helper of Writers and Libraries in the New Era of Reading

Abbas Karimi Rizi, in an interview with the correspondent of the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Ahvaz, referring to the role of intelligent technologies in the field of books, stated: Artificial intelligence is only an auxiliary tool and a digital assistant, not a real writer. Artificial intelligence can help in generating ideas, planning chapters, writing drafts, suggesting expressive styles, and even linguistic editing.

He added: All these outputs are valuable only when supervised, guided, and edited by a human writer who possesses purpose, vision, experience, and ethical responsibility.

Karimi Rizi said: Artificial intelligence also plays a prominent role in reconstructing ancient texts, identifying damaged texts, automatic translation, and creating wider access to written resources. Along with smart tools in writing and editing books, it also helps authors to enhance their works with a precise structure and modern style, without human creativity being set aside.

He elaborated that a sustainable and influential book requires human intelligence combined with emotional depth, cultural understanding, and a unique creative voice, stating: Artificial intelligence can by no means independently create a work that originates from the depth of human emotion and creative voice, something no algorithm can replace.

Regarding the developments of artificial intelligence in the field of books and libraries, Karimi Rizi said: This technology has brought about transformations in library services in recent years, including personalized book recommendations, smart cataloging, virtual reference services, digitization of old resources, and AI-based chatbots, which today respond to users’ needs 24/7 in many digital libraries.

The Secretary of Artificial Intelligence of the International Congress “The Way of Salvation: Nahj al-Balagha and Alavi Governance” added: The ultimate goal of books and libraries—fostering thought, cultural transmission, and inspiration—still relies on the active and conscious presence of humans.

He continued: In the field of preserving written heritage, artificial intelligence has also found widespread application. This technology can re-read and reconstruct ancient texts, repair damaged versions, provide comparative translations, and enable global access to rare and valuable works. On the other hand, in the field of audiobooks, AI with natural and interactive voices has provided a new reading experience for audiences.

Karimi Rizi, referring to the cultural aspect of this technology, said: In the field of religious and ethical books like Nahj al-Balagha, artificial intelligence can re-create deep concepts for young audiences in a simple and understandable language. This is possible through semantic analysis of sermons, production of interactive educational content, and intelligent translation.

Emphasizing the importance of scientific and religious supervision in this process, he said: The purpose of using artificial intelligence in the field of books is not to replace writers or commentators, but to facilitate communication between thought and audience. If properly guided, this technology can become an effective tool for promoting reading, preserving written heritage, and transmitting great human ideas.

This expert in religious affairs addressed the role of artificial intelligence in media productions, saying: In introducing Nahj al-Balagha to youth and the world, artificial intelligence can act as an intelligent bridge between the depth of Imam Ali (PBUH)’s words and the needs of today’s society, through producing engaging content, personalized education, culturally-oriented translations, and providing access for various audience groups.

He emphasized: If artificial intelligence is employed within the framework of respecting texts, under the supervision of religious scholars and linguists, and guided by informed media professionals, it will be a valuable companion in keeping this Islamic treasure alive in the heart of today’s society.

Karimi continued: In the era of new media, this technology can be used to produce educational animations with interpretive elements, infographic videos, and even educational games. Also, with the use of intelligent interpretation and translation, global access to the content of Nahj al-Balagha will expand, and the ground for international cultural dialogue will be prepared.

He emphasized: The purpose of using artificial intelligence in this field is not to replace the words of Imam Ali (PBUH), but to better transmit his message and knowledge using contemporary language and tools. If this technology is guided in the right direction and under the supervision of religious scholars and technology experts, it can become a powerful tool for spreading reading culture, religious understanding, and enhancing the cultural literacy of society.

This researcher added: Artificial intelligence is also capable of identifying forged or distorted texts and preventing the spread of incorrect information about Nahj al-Balagha. At the same time, this technology provides the possibility of personal interaction with religious concepts and can make education easier for various groups, including teenagers and individuals with low literacy.
