Ehsan Mansouri stated in an interview with the correspondent of the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Arak: To commemorate the 33rd National Book and Reading Week, over 6,500 volumes of the latest books from the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults’ publications have been sent to 51 centers of the Institute in the province to update cultural resources.

The Director-General of the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults of Markazi Province announced that the goal of this initiative is to raise the level of reading and increase children’s and young adults’ access to the latest published works in the field of children’s and young adult literature.

He referred to the renovation and enrichment of specialized children’s and young adult libraries, considering this approach to be in line with strengthening the motivation to read and promoting a culture of reading.

Mansouri added: The distribution of new books is carried out in alignment with the Institute’s content policies and with attention to developing cultural equity and supporting children’s and young adult authors and publishers. Earlier, in July this year, 7,300 volumes of books were also distributed in the province’s Institute centers as part of the “Summer First Harvest” project.

Emphasizing the role of the Institute’s libraries in the intellectual and personal growth of its members, he stated: Selecting high-quality and newly published works is one of the Institute’s main missions to deepen children’s connection with reading.

Mansouri also noted the presence of over 530,000 volumes of books in the Institute’s centers in the province, reminding that the Institute’s programs are implemented based on “book-centricity” and that the updating of reading resources continues throughout the year.

According to IBNA, during Book Week, special importance is given to expanding reading infrastructure among the future-building generation. The distribution of new books in cultural centers can play an effective role in guiding children and young adults towards effective reading; an action whose continuation can lead to the expectation that interest in books and reading will become a sustainable behavior in society.
