Comparative Study of Myths in the ‘From Eden to Alborz’ Workshop; From Roots of Narrative to Cultural Imagination

Sanaz Esfandiari told the correspondent of Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Karaj: A new workshop titled ‘From Eden to Alborz’ is being held by the ‘Read with Us’ Cultural and Artistic Institute, which will comparatively examine the myths of sacred books and Iranian myths.

She added: In this course, myth is analyzed not as a collection of ancient legends, but as a fundamental language structuring cultural imagination.

Explaining the workshop, Esfandiari said: Myths are the initial blueprints for the formation of narratives; a language flowing in the depths of our collective mind, shaping the roots of story, heroism, and creation. Understanding this language is a gateway for a writer or researcher to grasp deeper layers of imagination and literary creation.

According to the director of the ‘Read with Us’ Cultural and Artistic Institute, participants in this workshop will become familiar with the fundamentals of mythology and narratives of creation, heroes, deities, the battle of good and evil, the flood, the savior, and the end of the world. They will also explore the evolution of these concepts from ancient myths to contemporary beliefs.

Esfandiari further added: Our goal in this course is to open a new perspective on story and narrative; a perspective that goes beyond the surface of narrative details and approaches the fundamental structures of human imagination. Such knowledge is valuable and inspiring for writers, translators, researchers, and all those interested in the roots of narrative.

The ‘From Eden to Alborz’ workshop is part of the research and educational programs of the ‘Read with Us’ Cultural and Artistic Institute, which has been organized in recent years with the aim of promoting reading, strengthening analytical perspectives on text, and linking literature with mythological thought.

This workshop will be held in four educational sessions, on Tuesdays from 4 PM to 5 PM, at the ‘Read with Us’ Cultural and Artistic Institute. Homa Shahrambakht is responsible for teaching this course, and those interested in registering can contact the institute via the number 09214788212.
