“Poetics of Romantic Love” Published
According to Mehr News Agency, in the first half of the fifth century AH, poems about love and lovers were composed in the eastern lands of Iran, indicating the emergence of what is generally referred to today as lyrical poems or romances in Persian literature.
However, from a theoretical and scientific standpoint, serious attention has not been adequately paid to this genre and the role of these early poems within it. The book ‘The Poetics of Romantic Love,’ by focusing on the romantic poem Vis & Rāmin, attempts to compensate for these shortcomings and, by raising new issues and hidden aspects of the romance genre, provides precise insights into romantic love.
This book demonstrates how Vis & Rāmin and similar texts became powerful tools capable of addressing complex issues concerning humans and their place in society.
Cameron Cross is an American author and Iranologist who became familiar with Iran and the Shahnameh in his youth. After learning Persian, he studied Iranology at the University of Chicago. He published this book in 2015 with the original title ‘THE POETICS OF ROMANTIC LOVE IN VIS & RĀMIN,’ and now its Persian version is also available.
‘The Poetics of Romantic Love,’ by Cameron Cross and translated by Nima Zaheri, has been published in 640 pages by Khwarizmi Publications.
