The 27th International Storytelling Festival commenced its work
The 27th International Storytelling Festival officially began its work today with an opening ceremony attended by cultural officials and storytellers from various countries.
According to Mehr News Agency, this year’s festival, themed “Stories for a Better Future,” aims to promote peace, understanding, and cultural exchange through the ancient art of storytelling. The event is hosted by Kanoun Parvaresh Fekri Koodakan va Nojavanan (Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults).
The festival will feature performances, workshops, and specialized panels over the next week, showcasing diverse storytelling traditions and techniques. International participants from Europe, Asia, and Africa are presenting their narratives, contributing to a rich tapestry of global stories.
During the opening remarks, the Secretary of the festival emphasized the importance of storytelling in nurturing imagination, fostering empathy, and preserving cultural heritage among younger generations. He highlighted that storytelling is a powerful tool for education and social development.
Competitions for various age groups, including children, adolescents, and adults, are scheduled, with awards to be presented to outstanding storytellers in the closing ceremony. Special attention has been given to digital storytelling and innovative narrative forms in this edition.
