Ronald David Laing’s “Knots” available in Persian

TEHRAN – British psychiatrist R. D. Laing’s “Knots” has recently been published in Persian by Mahi Publications.

The book has been rendered into Persian by Hamed Qashqavi.

“Knots” is a series of poetic dialogues or “knots” that describe highly convoluted emotional situations in a relationship. Laing, known for his radical anti-psychiatry stance, explores the complexities of human relationships, communication breakdowns, and the dilemmas of perception in this work.

Originally published in 1970, “Knots” gained popularity for its unique blend of philosophy, poetry, and psychology, offering profound insights into the human psyche. The book is presented as a collection of short, dramatic passages that can be read as poems, dialogues, or mini-plays.

Laing’s work challenges conventional views on mental illness and personal identity, making “Knots” a significant contribution to both existential philosophy and psychology. Qashqavi’s translation makes this influential work accessible to Persian readers, adding to the growing body of translated philosophical and psychological literature in Iran.

Mahi Publications specializes in literature, philosophy, and social sciences, and this translation aligns with their mission to introduce significant international works to the Iranian audience.
