Publishers are not empty-handed; Digital combat against book thieves
The head of the Tehran Publishers and Booksellers Union emphasized: ‘Publishers will not sit idly by in confronting the phenomenon of digital book piracy and will use legal and technological tools to protect their rights.’
According to Ibna reporter, Mohammad Ali Farzin stated in a press conference: ‘Unfortunately, in recent years, we have witnessed an excessive increase in illegal copying and digital dissemination of books without publisher’s permission, which inflicts irreparable damages on the publishing industry.’
He added: ‘The union, in cooperation with judicial bodies and cyber police, will pursue the identification and prosecution of offenders. We are also exploring and implementing new DRM (Digital Rights Management) technologies to protect book content.’
Farzin also urged authors and translators to report any violations to the union so that necessary legal actions can be taken. He stressed that protecting the rights of authors and publishers ensures the vibrancy of the publishing industry.
