Polishing the Heart; A Scientific and Gnostic Reading of the Kumayl Supplication of the Commander of the Faithful (a.s.)

According to Khabar Online news agency, the book “Jalay-e Del” (Polishing the Heart) with the subtitle “A Scientific and Gnostic Reading of the Kumayl Supplication of the Commander of the Faithful (a.s.)” written by Ali Zamanian has been published by the Bustan-e Ketab Institute.

The Kumayl Supplication (Dua Kumayl) is a treasure of monotheistic teachings expressed through the words of the Commander of the Faithful (a.s.). This supplication is an ocean of divine knowledge, holding precious gems of theology, anthropology, and eschatology, which require explanation and clarification so that the audience can benefit more from them.

The present work, with fluid prose and simple language, strives to explain the teachings of this supplication in contemporary language for the younger generation, so that through it, the current generation may become acquainted with a portion of the teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt (a.s.).

Structure of the Work

This work is composed of three sections. The first section, titled “Generalities,” addresses preliminary topics such as “The Conceptual Study of Supplication,” “The Philosophy and Wisdom of Supplication,” “The Status of Supplication,” “The Conditions and Etiquettes of Supplication,” “The Answering of Supplication and Its Factors,” and “A Brief Introduction to the Kumayl Supplication.”

In the second section, titled “A Thematic Explanation of the Kumayl Supplication,” the author explains various passages of the supplication on topics such as “Remembering the Names of God,” “The Infinite Power of God,” “The Effects of Sin,” “The Role of Remembrance of God,” “Hope in Divine Mercy,” “The Trials and Tribulations of Believers,” “Patience with Divine Punishment,” “The Status of the Friends of God,” “Weeping, the Weapon of the Believer,” and “Certainty, the Highest Form of Worship.”
