Bibliography as an Introduction to the History of Science Writing; Bibliography with List Writing

Gholamreza Imani, the author of the book “Bibliography: An Introduction to the History of Scientific Writing,” discussed the characteristics of this work, stating that bibliography is both a science and an art. He emphasized that this book compiles a history of scientific writing based on bibliographic methods.

According to IBNA, Gholamreza Imani explained about his book that “the field of bibliography is both a science and an art. The art lies in cataloging and creating bibliographic lists, and the science lies in the methodology used for this process.” He added, “Many people engage in bibliography without paying attention to the methodology behind it. Therefore, one of the goals of this book is to highlight the scientific principles of bibliography.”

Imani explained that the book delves into the history of bibliography, tracing its origins and evolution. “The book starts from ancient times, examining how knowledge was recorded and organized in different cultures, leading up to contemporary methods of bibliography,” he noted.

He further elaborated, “The work focuses on the principles of list writing and its connection to the history of science. It aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how scientific discoveries and advancements have been documented through bibliographic practices.”

Published by the National Library and Archives of Iran, the book is considered a valuable resource for students and researchers in library and information science, history of science, and related fields. Imani hopes that the book will serve as a foundational text for anyone interested in the systematic recording and organization of knowledge.
