Start of the First National ‘Rasm-e Hamaseh’ Event at Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz

The first national ‘Rasm-e Hamaseh’ (Epic Drawing/Depiction) event officially began today at Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz, aimed at fostering artistic creativity inspired by Iran’s rich epic literature and national heroes.

According to IRNA, Dr. Ali Hosseini, the cultural deputy of Shahid Chamran University, stated during the opening ceremony, “This event is a significant step towards preserving and promoting our national identity through the artistic interpretation of epic tales. We believe that visual arts can play a crucial role in bringing classical literary works like Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh closer to the younger generation.”

The event, which will run for five days, includes various sections such as a visual arts exhibition, workshops on epic storytelling and illustration techniques, and specialized lectures on the influence of epic literature on contemporary art. A notable aspect of ‘Rasm-e Hamaseh’ is its focus on illustrating children’s books derived from traditional epic narratives, encouraging new approaches to educational content.

Participants, including students, artists, and scholars from across the country, will engage in creating artworks depicting scenes and characters from Persian epic poems. Prizes will be awarded to outstanding works in categories such as painting, calligraphy, and graphic design inspired by literary themes.

The initiative seeks to create a dynamic platform for interaction between literature and visual arts, highlighting the enduring relevance of epic stories in modern Iranian society. It is hoped that ‘Rasm-e Hamaseh’ will become an annual fixture, contributing to the cultural and artistic landscape of the region.
