A children’s and young adult book review desk will be launched
Sholeh Arastoupoor, in an interview with the correspondent of Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Mashhad, announced the establishment of a children’s and young adult book review desk in the specialized children’s and young adult section of the Central Library and Publications of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad.
She pointed out that the specialized children’s and young adult section of the Central Library and Publications of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad was established with the goal of collecting a rich collection of children’s and young adult books and specialized resources in this field for the use of students, researchers, and educational groups. She emphasized: This section, in addition to providing academic resources and supporting teaching, provides a suitable space for research and directly addresses the needs of child and young adult audiences.
Arastoupoor considered one of the goals of launching this section to be the promotion of reading culture and continued: Improving the quality of book-centered activities (such as content criticism and analysis), supporting active learning and creative thinking, encouraging questioning and curiosity, strengthening scientific spirit, creating a safe and supportive environment, and developing knowledge and information are among our other goals for launching this space. The user community of this specialized library includes faculty members, students, researchers in related fields (literature, psychology, counseling, educational sciences, information science and knowledge studies, etc.), kindergartens, schools in Mashhad, and children and young adults from pre-primary to the end of secondary school, and its resources are suitable for children and young adults aged 3 to 17 years.
The manager of the Central Library and Publications of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, noting the importance of improving the level of trainers, parents, researchers, students, and creators of children’s and young adult literature, referred to a set of book-centered activities of the university’s children’s and young adult library and added: One of the library’s activities is to enhance the motivation for intellectual growth of all active participants in this field, which will be activated in collaboration with the Knowledge Enhancement and Productivity Club for Religious Children’s and Young Adult Literature (Badbadak) at the beginning of winter; specifically, Sunday, December 21, 2025.
Arastoupoor continued: I hope the presence of children’s and young adult book experts will warm the library environment. The book review desk is a promotional format for conducting children’s and young adult book review sessions, which will be held with the collaboration of Mohammad Mahdi Ferdowsi Mashhadi, one of the professors and researchers of children’s and young adult literature, and with the presence of specialized guests from all over the country.
