“Fundamentals of Art History” enters the book market

According to the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA), “Fundamentals of Art History” written by Michael Cothren and Anne d’Alva and translated by Sahand Soltandoust has been published.

The book is written in simple and understandable language and introduces two fundamental methods in art history: formal analysis and contextual analysis.

Michael Cothren has expanded on topics related to iconography and iconology in the new edition; he has also added discussions on the impact of the market and museums on art to the previous edition.

Thanks to newer images and more case studies, a deeper emphasis has been placed on the global aspects and cultural diversity in the production and analysis of artworks, and a more detailed step-by-step guide on how to apply these methods has been provided.

“Fundamentals of Art History” has been published in quarto size in 233 pages and priced at 485,000 Tomans.
