Presence of 335 publishers at Kerman Book Fair
According to the reporter of Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Kerman, Hossein Ishaqi said during a press conference for the book fair on Sunday afternoon: “Out of more than 20,000 book titles, 15,000 volumes belong to domestic publishers, and we have 5,000 volumes in the international section.”
He added: “More than 335 domestic publishers are participating in this exhibition with 130,000 volumes of books valued at over 14 billion tomans.”
The Director General of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Kerman stated: “The 19th Kerman Book Fair is held in collaboration with the Iran Book and Literature House and the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, under the slogan ‘Kerman on top, let’s read for Kerman’.”
Stating that the exhibition will be held in a concentrated manner, he clarified: “This means there will be no duplicate books at the fair. Also, the operating bank has been eliminated, and subsidies of 200,000 tomans will be allocated to individuals’ national codes up to a maximum of one million tomans.”
Ishaqi stated: “The subsidy amounts to 2.5 billion tomans. Additionally, a 10% exhibition discount will be applied to the books. We must manage the book purchase subsidy so that each person can use up to one million tomans of this subsidy.”
The Director General of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Kerman province noted: “All books have been reviewed, barcoded, and registered. We will not have any books outside of this system.”
He emphasized: “The Kerman Book Fair, the 19th Kerman Book Fair, where the last book fair in Kerman was held in 2019 [1398 Solar Hijri year].”
According to Ishaqi, book launches, signing ceremonies, book reviews, and invitations to several international publishers and lasting literary figures are on the agenda for the side programs of the exhibition.
The Director General of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Kerman province said: “This exhibition includes two sections: international and Shahid Soleimani. Provincial publishers have registered in the system and are present at this exhibition.”
Referring to the choice of venue for the book fair, he said: “The Culture and Art Hall has been chosen to hold this exhibition, which is located in the city and will make commuting easier for students.”
According to IBNA, the Kerman Book Fair will welcome book and culture enthusiasts from December 18th to December 24th, from 9 AM to 9 PM, at the Culture and Art Hall in Kerman city, with the participation of the Iran Book and Literature House and the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance.
