Review session for the book ‘Discovery of Islamic Art’ to be held
According to the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA), a review session for the book ‘Discovery of Islamic Art’, written by Stephen Vernoit, will be held with the presence of Mehrdad Qayoumi, Amir Mazyar, Mehdi Golchin, Mohsen Azmoudeh, and Valiollah Kavoosi, the book’s translator.
The session will be held on Tuesday, December 16th, at 6 PM at Ney Publications building, located on Fatemi Street, Rahi Mo’ayyeri Street, corner of Fakoori Street, No. 20, 5th floor.
The book ‘Discovery of Islamic Art’, edited by Stephen Vernoit and published by I.B. Tauris in London in 2000, is an academic and analytical work examining the formation and institutionalization of Islamic art studies over a hundred-year period.
In addition to research articles, this collection includes images, portraits, tables, and samples from art collections, providing more precise documentation of the subject. The book focuses on showing how Islamic art gradually transformed from scattered items in private collections and dispersed objects into a coherent field within Western art history.
