A Distinguished Anthropologist’s Visit to Khorramabad Central Library
According to Khabaronline News Agency from Lorestan, during this visit, he conversed with library members, spoke about his memories from his studies and research, and emphasized the importance of reading and cultural connection between generations.
This visit, held with the presence of several library staff and active members, saw Professor Amanollahi visit various sections of the complex, including the reading hall, book stacks, and the children and young adults section.
During the visit, he engaged in a friendly conversation with members present in the reading hall and recalled his student experiences, stating: “I was born in a small village in Khorramabad, and the path of science and research was not easy for me. But faith, perseverance, and a love for knowledge brought me to Harvard University. I am happy to see that the young generation of this land studies with love today.”
Elham Borna, Director General of Lorestan Public Libraries, also expressed pride in the presence of this distinguished professor, saying: “Professor Amanollahi Baharvand is not only the pride of Lorestan but also a cultural asset of Iran. His presence alongside our young, book-loving people creates new motivation and inspiration on the path of science and culture.”
At the end of the visit, an intimate meeting was held with the presence of staff from the General Directorate of Public Libraries, librarians, and library members. In this meeting, Professor Amanollahi answered attendees’ questions about the local culture of Lorestan and the importance of documenting intangible heritage, emphasizing: “Lorestan’s culture is rooted in the history of Iran. If we do not record and narrate this heritage, future generations will only hear its name. Books are the best tool to keep culture alive.”
It is worth mentioning that in the resources and reference section of the library, several volumes of this distinguished professor’s works and research, including works on the ethnography of Lorestan, were displayed for enthusiasts. Professor Amanollahi expressed satisfaction upon seeing these works and added that seeing the young people’s reception of his scientific and cultural works is one of the most valuable moments of his life.
The enduring figure of Khorramabad further emphasized: By Nowruz, he will donate 2000 copies of rare and unique books from his personal library to the public libraries of Lorestan Province.
He stated that the purpose of this action is to transfer knowledge and cultural treasures between generations and expressed hope that these works can inspire researchers and lovers of Iranian culture.
