According to the correspondent of the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Gorgan, the memoir-based book «Rudabeh Returns to Hirmand», the latest work published by Norouzi Publications in Gorgan, was written by Fatemeh Kord Afshari and released to the market in 50 pages, with a print run of 300 copies and priced at 180,000 Tomans.
As announced by the author, parts of this book are based on the true story of a Sistani family who migrated from Sistan to Golestan province.
This book, written in 15 chapters, also addresses some social and psychological problems and discusses certain customs and traditions.
In a part of this book, we read: In June, when Rudabeh was one month away from turning sixteen, and the construction of the clay oven by Aghoul Taj in a corner of the new yard had just finished, a telegram arrived from Zabol from Aunt Saheb Jah, the content of which was a marriage proposal for Rudabeh from my cousin Sharif.
Sharif was the first of the seven sons of Aunt Saheb Jah and Kol Morad. My aunt’s financial situation was much better than ours. Sharif was an army officer, and his father had built a house for him in the village. His employment was considered a good advantage for my father’s consent to this marriage. At that time, marriages were traditional, and the opinions of the daughter, and sometimes even the son, were not involved.
My father informed Uncle Gholamali in Aliabad, my two other uncles in Gorgan, and Uncle Reza and Aunt Kobra in Zabol. In July of the same year, Aunt Saheb Jah, Kol Morad, Heydar Ali, and Safiyeh, Sharif’s uncle and aunt, came with their families to Gonbad, and thus a new chapter in Rudabeh’s life began.
