According to the correspondent of the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Semnan, a special ceremony to appreciate years of dedication and efforts by Mohammad Taghi Daraei, a veteran in the field of books and reading promotion, was held at the home of this esteemed master, attended by a group of officials and members of the Semnan Public Libraries Association.

The Director General of Semnan Province Public Libraries, the Governor of Semnan, members of the Semnan Public Libraries Association, the Head of Semnan County Public Libraries Department, and a number of other officials attended this ceremony, which was held on Thursday morning.

Mohammad Taghi Daraei is a shoemaker who, in addition to his shoemaking work in Semnan, has undertaken the collection, revival, and gathering of numerous books, striving to make them available to the public so that everyone can benefit from them.

This Semnani shoemaker has a library with over two thousand volumes in his workshop and home.

The Governor of Semnan, at this ceremony, while appreciating decades of cultural and artistic activities by Master Daraei, said: Daraei is considered one of the enduring figures in the field of book promotion in the center of Semnan Province.

Mehdi Samimian stated that this ceremony is held in honor of veterans and writers of Semnan Province, coinciding with the 33rd National Book Week, adding: Mohammad Taghi Daraei can be a role model for today’s youth in studying and having a strong interest in books.

Saeed Dehghanlou, Director General of Semnan Province Public Libraries, also referred to the appreciation of cultural figures and book activists in the province as part of the Book and Reading Week programs, stating: These meetings are held with the aim of appreciating years of efforts by cultural figures in the field of books.
