The 20th Fajr International Poetry Festival Issued a Call for Entries
According to the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA), quoting the public relations of the Iran Book and Literature House, the ‘Fajr International Poetry Festival,’ aiming to elevate and promote contemporary poetry, has hosted the caravan of Persian poetry every year since 2006 (1385 SH). Its 20th edition will be held this winter (1404 SH). This festival, in addition to conversing with prominent contemporary Iranian poets, is designed to introduce and recognize young poets of our beloved land and foster empathy and solidarity with Persian speakers worldwide.
In the main section of this international festival, works will be judged that were published for the first time in 1403 SH (2024-2025) in Persian, within the country, and with the permission of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance. This section includes four categories: ‘Classical Poetry,’ ‘Modern Poetry,’ ‘Colloquial Poetry,’ and ‘About Poetry’ (research in the field of poetry). Submissions in this section must be original compositions, in Persian, and independent poetry collections; therefore, joint collections will not be judged. Additionally, works previously published under a different title or with a different publisher, or those that are selections from previous works, will be excluded from the judging process.
The subsidiary section of this festival is dedicated to poets whose works have not been published in book form. Interested individuals can participate in the subsidiary section of the 20th Fajr International Poetry Festival by submitting 5 poems. These works can be Ghazal, Sepid, Nimaic, or any other form of contemporary poetry. Poems submitted in this section must not have previously won an award in another festival or been published.
This year’s special section of the festival will be held under the title ‘Mah-e Majles’ (Moon of the Assembly) to commemorate the 1500th anniversary of the birth of the Great Prophet (PBUH) and welcomes works that reflect the literary aspects of the personality of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The deadline for submission of works has been announced as December 21, 2025 (30 Azar 1404 SH). The winners of the 20th Fajr International Poetry Festival will be introduced in the closing ceremony in winter 1404 SH (early 2026) and will receive a cash prize, a commemorative plaque, and the festival’s trophy.
