Increasing unity and sustainable social security is the main characteristic of a book-reading society.
According to the correspondent of Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Urmia, Rasoul Moghabeli, at the ceremony commemorating the 33rd دوره of the Islamic Republic of Iran Book Week and the unveiling of the Supreme Leader’s approbation on three books in the field of jihad and resistance literature, held at the Urmia Central Library, while commemorating the martyrs and Book Week, said: Books are always the main capital of Iranian society, and no society will grow without awareness and dynamism. Book Week is an opportunity to review policies and plans in this area to accelerate comprehensive growth and development.
He stated that West Azerbaijan province is a model for unity and empathy, full of capacities, and added: Books, by deepening awareness, provide the ground for dialogue, empathy, companionship, solving challenges, and bringing about increased unity and sustainable social security.
Reading is the fundamental basis of learning and power.
The representative of the people of Urmia in the Islamic Consultative Assembly also referred to the importance of books and study in Islam during the ceremony and said: The verses of the Holy Quran strongly emphasize reading and learning, which indicates the importance of this matter, because knowledge and wisdom are the result of reading, and knowledge also creates power. Planning for this should start from infancy and childhood.
Hojjat-ul-Islam Seyyed Salman Zaker stated that reading is the foundation of every skill and said: We must plan in such a way that appropriate resources, especially authentic and primary sources in Islam, are accessible to everyone, and that everyone can learn new sciences and technologies through books and apply them in other fields.
He praised the Urmia Central Library for receiving the Hamkhaan mark and said: West Azerbaijan province has been the cradle of civilization, and this mark is the result of years of effort in promoting reading.
Librarians are the true ambassadors of knowledge.
The Director-General of Public Libraries of West Azerbaijan also said: This year, blessed by the coincidence of National Hero Day and the 33rd Book Week, we are witnessing the unveiling of the wise Leader’s approbation on three books, ‘Unfinished Fever’, ‘Lady Moon’, and ‘Companion of Fire and Snow’, which are narratives by martyrs’ wives about the highly esteemed martyrs, across the country. This cultural and blessed event demonstrates the importance of books and their soul-refreshing resonance.
Khadijeh Masoumi, referring to the fact that Book Week is not just naming an occasion, said: Book Week is a reminder of the unparalleled role of knowledge in building a bright future, and books are one of the most noble tools for transferring experience, learning, thought, and culture. Librarians are the guardians of the legacy of wisdom and thoughtfulness, and today public libraries are striving to be more than ever dynamic centers for learning, dialogue, social synergy, generational companionship, skill enhancement, cultural event hubs, and multipurpose clubs.
Masoumi, emphasizing that librarians are the true ambassadors of knowledge, said: I sincerely thank all librarians and activists in this field who keep the lamp of knowledge burning, and the acquisition of the Hamkhaan national mark in the services section for special groups by Urmia Central Library is the result of years of effort by public library colleagues and the capacity of public libraries in cultural development and a great honor.
Masoumi stated that more than 500 programs are being held in West Azerbaijan’s public libraries during Book Week, and said: West Azerbaijan province has 77 institutional public libraries, including 76 fixed libraries and one mobile public library, 25 participatory and independent libraries, and 9 self-governing study halls; and with over 1.7 million volumes of books and nearly 69,000 active members, over 625,000 volumes of books have been borrowed in the last year.
He thanked cultural institutions, supporters, philanthropists, public library staff, and activists in the field of books and reading for their cooperation in achieving the goals of this institution.
The unveiling of the Supreme Leader’s approbation on three books, ‘Unfinished Fever’, ‘Lady Moon’, and ‘Companion of Fire and Snow’, simultaneously across the country and live-streamed at the National Hero event, a choir performance, related video clips, and other parts of this ceremony.
Honoring the families of martyrs Fatin, Khalfkhani, Narenji, public library supporters, librarians, and top readers was the final part of this ceremony. And in this ceremony, Akbar Mousavi, Fariba Reza Qarabagh, Fateme Sadat Hosseini, Somayeh Fakheri, Roxana Balouri Anvar, Samaneh Pahlevanpour Fard, Shirin Arjomandpour, Solmaz Alizadeh, Kobra Ahmadi, librarians, were honored.
