Book Week; A Cultural Celebration Centered on Books / Meeting of Printing and Publishing Activists with the Minister of Culture
Mohsen Javadi, in an interview with a reporter from the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA), referring to the start of the 33rd period of the Book Week of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said: We began the programs of this period of Book Week on Friday (November 13th) from Oz, as the Book Capital of Iran, with the warm presence of book-loving, cultured people and cultural activists of this region, which was a good start. It is a city that can be a good model for many cities in the field of book and reading development.
He continued: The main structure for planning Book Week is carried out at the House of Book and Literature of Iran, and a detailed program has been envisioned for these days, which includes commemorating Book and Librarian Day, and a meeting of associations and organizations in the fields of printing and publishing with the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance to directly express their concerns and problems to the Minister.
Javadi added, stating that various programs are also planned in the provinces: The closing ceremony of the Student Book of the Year, the closing ceremony of the top ideas event for publishing technologies, a ‘Book Walk’, and meetings with authors and poets in the field of Persian literature, with the aim of explaining and clarifying the new structure of the Cultural Affairs Deputy in the field of preserving the Persian language, can also be announced as other programs of Book Week.
He also stated that the implementation of the book subsidy plan for booksellers, both virtually and in person, is another program of these days: The signing of an export memorandum of understanding by the Print Department with the Trade Development Organization, with the aim of expanding the export of cultural products, and holding meetings with publishers of different religions, with the aim of creating broader connections with them and achieving greater flourishing with them, will also be pursued this week.
According to IBNA; The 33rd period of the Book Week of the Islamic Republic of Iran, with the slogan ‘Read for Iran’, continues until November 21st (2025).
