This Bookseller Laid the Foundations for Isfahan University’s Facilities
According to Khabaronline news agency, quoting IBNA, Masih Saghafi’s entry point into the world of books and culture was in 1937; when he, a teenager of about thirteen years, fresh out of school, stepped into ‘Ta’yid’ bookstore in Isfahan. In those days, a bookstore was not just a place for buying and selling books, but a cultural assembly; a place for dialogue, social interaction, and exchange of ideas among writers, teachers, students, and lovers of knowledge. Young Saghafi, with a world of enthusiasm, stood behind the counter and among the shelves, and instead of a classroom lesson, began another lesson: the lesson of life, etiquette, dialogue, and understanding people through books.
In those early years, he made sincerity, trustworthiness, and politeness his main assets. These very qualities ensured that he was not just an apprentice, but gradually gained status and credibility, and for many customers, his presence was the main reason for their visit. His interaction with writers and readers during that period further enriched his inquisitive spirit. Every book he picked from the shelf was like a new window to the world for him; a window that made each day different and each thought mature.
