80% of publishers’ dues from sold books paid
According to Iran Book News Agency (IBNA), quoting the Public Relations of the Deputy for Cultural Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, with the conclusion of the 12th North Khorasan Book Fair and the 14th National Sacred Defense Book Fair, 80% of publishers’ dues from book sales have been paid. This action, taken in the shortest time after the fair, demonstrates the commitment of the House of Book and Literature of Iran to supporting publishers and facilitating the country’s publishing economy.
The 12th North Khorasan Book Fair was held from Mehr 27 to Aban 4, 1404 (Persian calendar year) at the Imam Khomeini (RA) Grand Mosque in Bojnord. At this fair, the culture-loving people of North Khorasan province purchased over 37,351 book volumes worth 65 billion, 808 million, and 861 thousand Rials (equivalent to 6 billion, 580 million Tomans), indicating a significant reception for this cultural event.
According to IBNA, quoting the Public Relations of the Deputy for Cultural Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the process of paying publishers’ dues will continue in the same manner immediately after each provincial fair until the end of 1404 (Persian calendar year), in order to further boost the book market and increase publishers’ trust in the structure of provincial fairs.
Provincial book fairs in the 14th government are being held again after a long time, with a different approach and method, in line with one of the major programs of the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, namely cultural justice and access for people across the country to desired books, as well as strengthening the economy of the publishing industry and considering all aspects of publishing.
