An Adventurous Journey into the World of Imagination and Writing

According to the reporter of Iran Book News Agency (IBNA), if children write stories for children and young adults, they will certainly be among the most successful stories, because every social group can express its concerns and most important needs. If children can write stories in their own language, they will definitely portray what they like, so it can have many fans.

However, writing has its own principles and rules, and first of all, we must teach these principles and rules to children so that they can visualize their imaginations. Sometimes, direct and explicit teaching may not be effective, and we should teach them indirectly, in a way that is attractive to children and involves play and entertainment.

The book “A Train to Space” tells the story of a teacher who one day asks his students to write a story, but they all become confused. He then gives them an idea: traveling by train to a wonderful place. The children begin their search, and eventually, they write a story about traveling to space with all the children of the world.

Along this path, they discover interesting tips for storytelling. For instance, in this story, we read that they go “word hunting.” The method of hunting, depicted imaginatively in this book, is done with hunting tools like nets, but in reality, the author wanted to emphasize that children should listen carefully wherever they go to learn new words.

Also, when students practice writing stories together, the book mentions suitable ways to strengthen writing skills to nurture children’s imagination. Finally, to provide children with a ready-made idea, the storytelling idea presented in this very book is given to them to write about, and to make the adventure more amazing, a train ticket is designed on the last page of the book so that children can imagine better.

“A Train to Space” was written by Mert Arık, illustrated by Hüseyin Sönmezay, and translated into Persian by Nazli Khalili Safa. Safir Ardehal Publications, which purchased the rights to publish this work from its Turkish publisher, has made it available to enthusiasts for 100,000 Tomans.
