Ronald David Laing’s Knots available in Persian
TEHRAN – A Persian translation of Ronald David Laing’s book “Knots” has recently been published by Negah Publications.
The book, a collection of poetic dialogues and anti-psychiatric propositions, was originally released in 1970. Laing, a Scottish psychiatrist who wrote extensively on mental illness, is known for his views on the causes and treatment of psychotic conditions, which often challenged conventional psychiatry.
“Knots” presents a series of short, often paradoxical, conversations that illustrate the complexities and confusions in human relationships. It explores how individuals get tangled in relational patterns and verbal traps, reflecting Laing’s theories on the social genesis of mental illness.
The translation was done by renowned Iranian translator, Ali Abbasian, who has previously translated several other works of philosophy and psychology into Persian.
This new edition aims to make Laing’s seminal work accessible to a wider Persian-speaking audience interested in philosophy, psychology, and critical theory.
