Ronald David Laing’s Knots available in Persian

TEHRAN – “Knots”, a collection of poetic plays by the eminent Scottish psychiatrist R.D. Laing, has been translated into Persian by Hamidreza Baghaei and published by Cheshmeh Publications in Tehran.

Originally published in 1970, the book explores disturbed patterns of communication in human relationships. It comprises a series of short, enigmatic dialogues and poems that delve into the complexities of human interaction, often highlighting the paradoxes and confusions inherent in communication.

Laing, a prominent figure in the anti-psychiatry movement, used his work to challenge conventional psychiatric practices. “Knots” reflects his unique approach to understanding mental distress, framing it often as a logical response to an illogical world.

The Persian edition makes Laing’s influential work accessible to a broader audience in Iran, where his theories on psychology and existentialism have gained considerable interest over the years.

Cheshmeh Publications is known for introducing significant international literary and philosophical works to the Iranian readership.
