A literary expert: ‘Daughter of Fire Camp’ suffers from linguistic and historical slips
According to Iran Book News Agency (IBNA), Masoumeh Hosseini, head of book and literature at various news agencies, reviewed the novel ‘Daughter of Fire Camp’ and said: ‘There are many problems in the novel ‘Daughter of Fire Camp’, among which are its linguistic and historical flaws.’
She continued: ‘Shima Sabouri (the author of this novel) has not paid attention to the main character of the story, who is a young girl, and has mostly tried to enter into the personal life of the protagonist.’
‘Daughter of Fire Camp’ is a historical novel written with a focus on the imposed war and the crimes of Saddam’s regime in Iraqi Kurdistan and Halabja.
She added: ‘This novel faced many censorship issues by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance at the initial printing, among which its historical correction can be mentioned.’
Hossein said: ‘Shima Sabouri’s novel lacks the necessary narrative elements and resembles a historical report more than a literary work.’
At the end of the session, Sabouri thanked the attendees and welcomed the review and critique of her novel.
