Ronald David Laing’s Knots available in Persian

TEHRAN – Renowned Scottish psychiatrist R.D. Laing’s “Knots” has recently been translated into Persian by Farzaneh Taheri and published by Negah Publications.

“Knots” is a series of short, enigmatic dialogues, poetic observations, and ‘anti-lessons’ that explore the complexities of human relationships, communication breakdowns, and the dilemmas of perception. It delves into the internal logic of madness and the absurdities of everyday interactions, often expressed through paradoxes and circular reasoning.

Originally published in 1970, the book gained significant attention for its unique style and profound insights into the human psyche. Laing, a leading figure in the anti-psychiatry movement, challenged conventional views on mental illness, arguing that what is often labeled as psychosis can be understood as a meaningful response to an unlivable situation.

Farzaneh Taheri is a well-known Iranian translator who has brought numerous philosophical and psychological works into Persian. Negah Publications is a prominent Iranian publishing house with a focus on literature, philosophy, and social sciences.

Laing’s other notable works include “The Divided Self: An Existential Study in Sanity and Madness,” “Self and Others,” and “The Politics of Experience.” His contributions have had a lasting impact on psychology, philosophy, and cultural studies.

The Persian translation makes this influential work accessible to a broader audience in Iran, allowing readers to engage with Laing’s challenging ideas on existence, self, and relationships.
