Opposition to the burial of Kamran Fani in the Notable Figures section

According to Khabaronline News Agency, quoting ISNA, while the funeral and burial ceremony of Kamran Fani is scheduled to take place tomorrow (Monday, December 15) from the National Archives and Library Organization towards Behesht Zahra cemetery, and according to previous announcements, the Notable Figures section was declared as his burial place, news has now arrived that the Tehran City Council has opposed the burial of this veteran cultural figure in this section. Even the negotiations of Seyyed Abbas Salehi, the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, have been unsuccessful in this regard.

Apparently, in recent years, the Tehran City Council has set rules for the burial of figures in the Notable Figures section of Behesht Zahra (PBUH), which has caused challenges for the burial of some of them in this section. Now they have stated that Kamran Fani does not meet the necessary conditions for burial in this section.

According to ISNA, Kamran Fani was born on April 14, 1944, in Qazvin and passed away on Saturday, December 13. He had a master’s degree in librarianship and became a continuous member of the Academy of Persian Language and Literature Council in 2003. Fani was a faculty member of the National Library and for some time served as the head of the Iranology section of this organization.
