Invitation for the Eleventh Festival of Book-Friendly Villages and Nomads Published
According to the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA), quoting the public relations department of the Iran Book and Literature House, with the aim of promoting reading culture, strengthening Iranian-Islamic identity, and developing cultural justice in rural and nomadic communities, the invitation for the eleventh edition of the National Festival “Book-Friendly Villages and Nomads” has been published.
This edition of the festival, designed with a new “Gamification” approach and aimed at creating a stable, dynamic, and participation-based ecosystem in the field of reading promotion, is organized by the Cultural Affairs Deputy of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, in cooperation with relevant institutions, including the Iran Book and Literature House.
Key Objectives; From Institutionalizing Reading to Strengthening Local Identity
This national event aims to achieve goals such as promoting and institutionalizing reading culture, fostering constructive competition and interaction between local communities, strengthening the sense of belonging, cultural ownership, and direct role-playing of villagers and nomads, as well as identifying, documenting, and expanding effective initiatives in the field of books, through new incentive mechanisms. Developing cultural and reading infrastructures in rural and nomadic areas and utilizing the capacity of virtual space and new technologies for book promotion are among other key focus areas of this festival.
Participation Conditions and Registration Method for the Festival
Participation in this festival is open to all villages and nomadic communities nationwide. The responsibility for the accuracy of registered activities lies with the “Project Manager” (including the mayor, head of the village Islamic council, librarian, or trusted individual).
Applicants can register and upload their activities through the festival’s system at www.tarvijeketab.ir. It should be noted that registered activities must have been carried out during the period from October 2025 to late April 2026.
Areas of Activity; Education, Creation, and Awareness
Registerable activities for the eleventh edition of the “Book-Friendly Villages and Nomads” festival are defined in three main areas: First, the field of education, which includes training courses on life skills, family economics, Persian language, health, Quran and Etrat, new technologies, etc. Second, the field of creation, which includes activities such as puppet shows, storytelling, book exhibitions, literary meetings, reading competitions, etc. The field of awareness also includes programs such as book clubs, book review and introduction sessions, and group reading.
Judging System, Scoring, and Awards
According to the by-laws file, submitted and registered entries will receive points after review and judging. In this edition, the top 10 villages with the highest scores will receive the title “Book-Friendly Village” and will be honored. Furthermore, participants can redeem their points for various reward baskets and prizes. These baskets include strengthening library resources, financial support for program implementation, invitations for special trainers and guests, and access to educational and cultural services.
Festival Implementation Schedule
After the unveiling of the poster for the eleventh edition of the “Book-Friendly Villages and Nomads” festival in October 2025, according to the festival’s call and announced schedule, activity registration in the system began in December 2025 and will continue until the end of April 2026. Activity assessment and judging will also be conducted simultaneously during this period. The closing ceremony and honoring of selected participants will be held in May 2026, coinciding with the Tehran International Book Fair.
