Discover Iran’s royal libraries; treasures gathering dust!

According to Khabaronline News Agency, Rufia Tirgari wrote in Ettelaat newspaper: The oldest modern library in Iran is Darolfonun Library, which was established by Amir Kabir during the reign of Naser al-Din Shah Qajar. The Darolfonun building itself is an architectural masterpiece; the library, with a vast hall, high ceilings, and large windows, was a suitable environment for study and research.

The Darolfonun Library inspired the establishment of modern libraries throughout the country, including in royal palaces.

Royal libraries, because they were places for studying and storing books belonging to the royal family, are considered museums in a way. These libraries contain books donated by international authorities or recognized centers to members of the royal family; signed books of which only one copy might exist in the world.
