“Princess Jahanara” comes to bookstores

According to Khabaronline News Agency, “Princess Jahanara” is Carucci’s second novel after “Akbar Shah,” which has been translated into Persian by Abolhassan Hatami.

This novel addresses the story of Jahanara’s life, the eldest daughter of Shah Jahan, the famous king of India, and Mumtaz Mahal, his Iranian-descent wife. The magnificent structure of the Taj Mahal, which Shah Jahan built for Mumtaz Mahal’s tomb, is the eternal legacy of the love and glory of that era. In a time when the court’s splendor was intertwined with the display of art and Persian poetry, and poets like Saeb Tabrizi sat at the head of the assembly, Jahanara opens a new path for women amid power, love, and change.

Focusing on the role of women in the formation of power, this novel offers a fresh and feminine perspective on the history of Shah Jahan’s era and the years following him. Navid Carucci immerses the reader in the glorious and tumultuous atmosphere of that time by using real historical figures and precise descriptions of places.

We read in a part of this book: “All palace residents participated in the Holi spring festival, regardless of their ethnic or religious affiliation. For entertainment and as a sign of hoping for a better situation due to the impending war… colored powders danced in the air, and actors playing fairies were so colorful that they looked like imaginary beings. Jahanara stopped for a moment amid the smoke, colors, and noise; a celebration that cleansed everything except her own worries.”

Khorshid Book Publication has translated and published the novel “Princess Jahanara” from Italian to Persian with official permission from the author. This novel has been released in a print run of 500 copies at a price of 750,000 Tomans.
