The book ‘Hala’ was published
According to the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Isfahan, the book ‘Hala’ includes 333 Sehganis. Sehgani is a new poetic form that is composed in three verses or lines, in three branches—classic, Nimai, and blank verse—based on context, impact, and a sagacious perspective. Alireza Fouladi, a poet, writer, and university professor, has added this style of poetry to Persian literature and published its poetics in 2016 (1395 Persian calendar).
Fouladi stated in this regard: In the collection of Sehgani ‘Hala’, new types of Sehgani introduced after the first collection, such as Sehgani-Ruba’i, Sehgani-Do-Beiti, Sehgani-Haiku, Sehgani-Short Story, and Satirical Sehgani, have also been added to the original Sehgani, further demonstrating the capacities and intricacies of this poetic form. The collection ‘Hala’ has also emerged as a distinct collection from linguistic, literary, and intellectual perspectives.
The collection of Sehgani ‘Hala’, which comprises 333 Sehgani pieces, incorporates various forms of Sehgani. Some of these poems are romantic, Khayyami, and others are dedicated to epistemological topics.
He continued: Sehgani is a form that stands between modernism and tradition, benefiting from the characteristics of both classical and modern poetry. The features of this new type of poetry are explained in ‘The Poetics of Sehgani and its Issues’. Now, after 15 years of a strong presence of Sehgani in real-world workshops and literary circles and virtual media, the historical and artistic role of this poetic form can be evaluated more precisely.
Fouladi added: The book ‘The Poetics of Sehgani and its Issues’ elaborates on all theoretical aspects of Sehgani. This book, by considering the historical contexts of poetry and its intertextual connections, introduced the Sehgani form as a short form that can meet the demands of the modern world to Persian poetry readers.
Sehgani is a poetic form that emerges from three verses or three lines, and at its end, a mental impact is delivered:
The sky crying with my heavy heart;
Rain on my umbrella,
Rain under my umbrella.
More technically, Sehgani is a type of poetry with an overall external form that is ‘short’ and ‘three-part’ (سهلَختی), and an overall internal form that is ‘closed’ and ‘striking’ (کوبشی).
He concluded: Among the fundamental features of Sehgani, the two characteristics of being ‘short’ and ‘three-part’ respectively constitute the geometric and numerical quantity of Sehgani and together form the foundation of its ‘mechanical form’; also, the two characteristics of being ‘closed’ and ‘striking’ respectively constitute the harmonic and rhythmic quality of Sehgani and together form the foundation of its ‘organic form’. The simultaneous presence of all these four characteristics is necessary in a Sehgani.
The second edition of Alireza Fouladi’s first Sehgani collection, titled ‘Rain Under My Umbrella,’ was also recently published by the same publisher.
