The Book ‘Approach to Sistan’s Local Stories’; Analyzing the Role of Local Stories in Shaping Individual and Social Behavior
According to the correspondent of Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Zahedan, the book ‘Approach to Sistan’s Indigenous Tales in the Application of the Behavior Triangle (Culture, Belief, and Personality)’ by Gholamreza Jahantighi (Sistani), a social researcher, was published in the summer of 2025. This work, published by Rahayesh Scientific Research Institute, analytically examines the position of local stories in shaping human behavior.
In this book, the author introduces the ‘Behavior Triangle,’ consisting of three sides: culture, belief, and personality, arguing that indigenous stories, as cultural mirrors, not only reflect the values and ideas of a society but also have a long-term impact on individuals’ personalities and actions. Jahantighi, referring to Sistan’s rich history of storytelling, considers these narratives a blend of the region’s history, beliefs, and identity, which can also play an effective role in educating future generations.
Jahantighi added: ‘Personality is an abstract category that manifests in human behavior. The culture and beliefs of each individual also influence the formation of their behavior, like a touchstone for personality. Indigenous stories, formed within the historical context of a society, recount these very beliefs and cultures, and their repetition can guide society towards dynamism or stagnation.’
Referring to the necessity of promoting reading, he said: ‘If we want a dynamic, knowledge-based, and developed society, we must encourage our children to read books with green and clear texts, not complex or dark ones.’
