Pocket Books; Favorite of the Middle Class

According to the culture and publication service of the Iran Book News Agency (IBNA), inexpensive pocket books, priced at 5 shillings, which usually cost less than half the price of ordinary books, were published in England in the mid-19th century.

These books increased the number of titles published in that country. Readers and buyers of pocket books were mostly members of the middle class. Literate members of the lower classes used public libraries, and public libraries, whose numbers were increasing in various parts of England, also bought more copies of pocket books. Thin-cover serial stories were also published at a relatively cheaper price and sold at stations and public centers.
