Good news on Reza Amirkhani’s brain condition; ‘No bleeding or vital damage observed’
According to Khabaronline news agency, Dr. Ashtiani stated that MRI scans of the skull and spine were performed over the past two days, and a routine CT scan was also conducted on Thursday to monitor the patient’s recovery process. “MRI can accurately show the condition of sensitive and vital areas of the brain; including the brainstem, which affects breathing, heart, and body temperature, the brain ventricles, which regulate cerebrospinal fluid pressure, and the main neural pathways that affect movement and vision. These types of imaging provide us with very precise information.”
According to him, the results of the recent MRI and CT scans have shown that the sensitive and vital centers of the brain have not been affected, and no specific bleeding has been observed.
Dr. Ashtiani continued by addressing public concern about Amirkhani’s level of consciousness, adding: “Experienced physicians – including Mr. Amirkhani’s treating doctor – usually exercise great caution in providing quick and definitive statements, and this caution is completely understandable. Like everyone else, I would like to hear news of an increase in his level of consciousness by the end of the week, but we must know that even if this process is lengthy, it does not mean the cessation of improvement.”
He emphasized: “The nature of these types of injuries is that the recovery process is time-consuming. It is better to accept this reality and align ourselves with the long treatment process so that good news arrives at the appropriate time.”
