From Classroom to CERN, Switzerland; An Amazing Experience of Science
Arezoo Beyrami, in an interview with the correspondent of Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Urmia, said: The dynamism of science truly takes on meaning when it breaks free from the confines of laboratories and becomes an inspiration for future generations through education.
She added: This book is the result of a journey that, for me as a selected teacher in the International Teacher Visit Program to the world’s largest fundamental particle research center, has been a major turning point in my professional and scientific life.
Beyrami said: I thank God that with perseverance, effort, and years of teaching experience, I was accepted among 46 selected teachers from around the world and had the opportunity to be present at CERN, the world’s largest fundamental particle research center, for two weeks.
Beyrami stated: This learning, ranging from modern teaching methods to their philosophical view of science, and this cultural and scientific synergy, made this experience far beyond a training course for me.
The author of the book ‘From Classroom to CERN, Switzerland; An Amazing Experience of Science’ added: The international program for visiting selected teachers from around the world was an exceptional opportunity during which we participated in 70 hours of lectures and specialized workshops, entered massive research halls, stepped into ultra-advanced computing environments, and conversed with researchers who shape a part of the future of science every day.
She said: This book is the result of collecting my experiences from this scientific journey, experiences that I have tried to present in a simple, precise, educational, and understandable language for a wide range of audiences. This work can be an inspiring and practical resource for students whose minds are full of questions, for students who have embarked on the path of research, for teachers and professors seeking richer scientific education, and for anyone interested in understanding how science comprehends the world.
Beyrami stated: My goal in writing this book is not merely to convey the experience of the visit. In this book, I cover various sections of CERN, including the massive LHC accelerator to powerful detectors; from novel computational technologies to medical applications; from educational workshops to activities that can be implemented in schools. In this book, I want to show that the roots of many of today’s technologies, and even industrial and everyday medical tools, lie in fundamental particle research.
She said: What we see in hospital rooms, advanced industries, communication systems, medical imaging, energy computations, and even future technologies, stems from the efforts of scientists who have spent years in this research center trying to understand a simple yet fundamental question: what is the universe made of and how does it work? I hope this book serves as a bridge between advanced global research and our country’s classrooms, inspiring teachers who dream of change; new knowledge for students seeking truth, and a fresh perspective for teenagers who want to build the scientific future of the country.
According to IBNA; the book ‘From Classroom to CERN, Switzerland; An Amazing Experience of Science’ has been published in 240 pages by Ganjeh Publications.
