Return of a Martyr’s Book to the Library: A Manifestation of Loyalty and Responsibility
According to Khabaronline News Agency from Lorestan, “History” by Elsa Morante was the last book that Pasdar Martyr Mohammad Farhadi – one of the martyrs of the 12-day war and a member of Ghadir Public Library in Khorramabad – was reading in the final days before his deployment. He had borrowed this book and, before leaving for his mission, entrusted it to his wife to return it to the library at an opportune time.
After the martyrdom of this combatant, his widow, more than two months later, visited Ghadir Library with their child and returned the book to the librarian. When she stated the reason for the delay as “her husband’s martyrdom,” a heavy silence and an atmosphere mixed with sorrow fell among the staff and attendees; a moment that for them was not merely the return of a book, but a narrative of loyalty and adherence to moral values.
According to the head of Ghadir Library, this action symbolizes the responsibility and commitment of martyrs’ families to trusteeship and cultural values.
Today, “History” is kept on the library shelves with a memorial tag; a souvenir of Martyr Mohammad Farhadi’s last cultural moments and a sign of his love for reading, knowledge, and commitment to trust.
The Director General of Public Libraries of the province, the Public Relations management, security, and some staff of the institution were present at this ceremony.
