John Rawls was an American philosopher who made the greatest efforts in the twentieth century to analyze the concept of justice and how to implement it in society. His work titled “A Theory of Justice” is considered one of the most important political works of the twentieth century. “Justice as Fairness” and “Political Liberalism” are among his other works. Rawls lived as a philosopher during a time when several global crises were occurring; from World War II to the Cold War and the United States’ invasion of Vietnam. These conditions led Rawls to consider the real consequences of political theories, consequences that affect statesmen and citizens.
