Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Library Construction Projects Await Serious Attention from Officials

According to Iran Book News Agency (IBNA) in Shahrekord, Parvaneh Arzanesh, during an introductory meeting for senior managers of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, referred to the completion of the 33rd Book Week of the Islamic Republic of Iran. She considered this event a valuable opportunity for rethinking the importance of books and reading, stating: “The foundation for the growth and development of any society is rational culture. If we seek economic and scientific progress, we must first strengthen our cultural foundations. This culture is only achieved through study and books. Books are the beginning of human guidance, and the product of human thought will also be books.”

She added that a society without books would be an underprivileged society. Although the per capita reading rate in the country is low, the national campaign ‘Let’s Read for Iran’ showed that the hope for promoting reading culture is still alive. In this regard, the cooperation of the twelve county governors, mayors, and administrative officials who valued reading culture by sending messages, visiting libraries, and supporting this campaign is commendable.

Arzanesh, in another part of her speech, referred to the infrastructural problems of the provincial libraries, stating: “The public libraries of the province face serious challenges in per capita development and retrofitting. We have numerous construction projects underway, including the construction of the provincial central library, the creation of a library in Manzarieh town, the repair and redesign of Shahid Beheshti Library and Molavi Library, the retrofitting of Amir Kabir Library, and other construction plans. These projects, especially the provincial central library project, await serious attention from officials.”

She emphasized: “Every library that is built or renovated is not just a building; rather, it is the cornerstone of a more aware and empowered society.”

The head of the province’s Public Libraries Department also referred to the extensive cultural activities of the libraries, saying: “Holding book review and unveiling sessions, educational and cultural programs, and implementing various projects in cooperation with cultural institutions and book-loving people, are part of our efforts to promote reading. These activities show that libraries are not just places for storing books, but are centers for the intellectual and social growth of society.”

This meeting was held with an emphasis on two main axes: the development of library infrastructure and the promotion of reading culture. The remarks of the head of the Public Libraries Department of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari once again reminded that libraries are not only guardians of cultural heritage but also investors in the future of society; a future built on rationality, awareness, and culture.
